Paracord (parachute cord) has been a military utility cordage standard since WWII. Original mil-spec 550 paracord handles 550 lbs minimum tensile strength with a 7-strand nylon inner core. TOUGH-GRID's 750lb variant uses an 11-strand inner core with higher tensile rating. For preparedness kits, the additional strength margin is a rational upgrade at equivalent cost.
Each inner strand of paracord can be removed individually and used as: fishing line, snare wire, sewing thread, emergency sutures, bowstring, and trigger trip wire. The 7-strand core of standard paracord provides 7 independent cordage elements in one outer sheath. TOUGH-GRID's 11-strand provides 11. This is the "tool in your kit" argument that's actually valid.
