Morakniv has made knives in Sweden since 1891. The Garberg is their step-up survival knife — full tang (unlike most Mora knives), thick spine for batoning, and their standard high-carbon or stainless blade steel. At $80, it undercuts ESEE and Ka-Bar significantly while using comparable blade steel and manufacturing quality.

Sandvik Steel

Morakniv uses Sandvik 14C28N stainless or high-carbon steel depending on variant. Sandvik is a Swedish steel manufacturer known for blade quality. The 14C28N stainless holds an edge well and resists corrosion better than 1095 — the main practical advantage of the Garberg over the ESEE 6 for humid environments.
