Galvion (formerly Revision Military) engineered the Caiman Hybrid specifically for the problem of helmet weight during extended missions. At 2.4 lbs, the Caiman is approximately 20% lighter than most IIIA helmets — which translates directly to neck fatigue and mission duration at the operator level.
Ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene is lighter than the aramid fibers used in most ballistic helmets. Pure polyethylene helmets sacrifice some multi-hit retention, but the Caiman Hybrid's material engineering achieves IIIA certification at the reduced weight. For operations where hours of helmet wear are expected, 2.4 vs 3.2 lbs is a mission parameter.
Galvion's PAX suspension system provides 360° contact padding that distributes helmet weight across the full head surface rather than concentrating at contact points. The practical result is meaningfully better comfort during extended wear than systems with fewer contact points.
