The Phantom 4 Pro V2 is a legacy platform with one irreplaceable feature: a mechanical shutter. For mapping, photogrammetry, and still photography work, no current mini drone matches it.

The DJI Phantom 4 Pro V2 is technically a legacy platform — DJI discontinued active development. But the 1" mechanical shutter sensor remains unsurpassed for photogrammetry, ortho photography, and any application requiring 100% accurate geometry in still images. Electronic shutters introduce rolling shutter distortion during motion; the Phantom eliminates this.
Photogrammetry software (DroneDeploy, Pix4D, Agisoft Metashape) generates 3D models from overlapping imagery. Rolling shutter distortion from electronic shutters creates geometry errors. The Phantom 4 Pro V2's mechanical shutter eliminates this — for mapping applications, the older platform outperforms newer drones with better specs on paper.
Discontinued doesn't mean obsolete. If you're doing mapping, the Phantom 4 Pro V2 is still the correct platform — and the secondary market prices reflect that demand.
