The DJI Mini 4K is DJI's 2024 entry-level offering — a $299 sub-249g drone with genuine 4K/30fps (improved over the Mini 2 SE's 2.7K). For budget-conscious operators who need DJI quality and sub-249g weight class, this is the current starting point.
Unlike the Mini 2 SE's 2.7K, the Mini 4K delivers 4K/30fps at the same $299 price. The 1/2.3" sensor limits low-light performance, but for daytime documentation the quality gap to the Mini 3 series is acceptable at the price difference.
10km O2 range is more than sufficient for most operations. The lack of obstacle avoidance keeps costs low — operators need to provide their own spatial awareness.
The best entry point into sub-249g DJI ownership in 2024. When budget allows, the Mini 3 adds obstacle avoidance and better sensor for $170 more.
