The DJI Avata 2 is the second generation of DJI's "cinewhoop" FPV platform — designed for immersive first-person video that's accessible to pilots without FPV racing experience. The combination of APAS obstacle avoidance in an FPV form factor is genuinely novel.
Traditional FPV drones have zero obstacle avoidance — crashes are part of learning. The Avata 2 brings DJI's APAS avoidance to FPV flight. In Normal mode, the aircraft handles most scenarios. In Sport mode, avoidance is reduced. This substantially lowers the barrier to useful FPV flight.
The Goggles 3 provide 54° diagonal FOV with micro-OLED displays — genuine immersive video quality. The 100Hz refresh rate and ~20ms latency create a convincing presence sense.
For operators who want FPV capability without the learning curve of traditional FPV, the Avata 2 is the platform. The Goggles 3 are required for the full experience.
